Mary Carmichael and Jenny McBride
This is a song for my mother
Her name was Jenny McBride
her favourite song The Four Marys
I can still hear her sing with pride
wae the Cunninghams New Years Day
In Union Street in the old Bonhill
To all the mothers out there
remember to sing your favourite song
So your sons can remember you
with a smile and sometimes a tear
Down the long long miles
then the short short years
She painted you know, never with a stencil
In between, the co-op, the UTR working
then Glens Garage and the County Council
Landscapes up the Loch on her easel
But we still laugh at her Portraits
These moments, she's here, she's Real
She could bake and make lazy macaroni
not the best cook but a swift tailor
Antartex seamstress extraordinaire
But the thing i remember the most
Was the smile on her face
When she sang the Four Marys.
Refrain - Mary Seaton, Mary Beaton, Mary Carmichael and Me
